 Activities: Climb Hang Mua Peak before having lunch and taking a tour of Tam Coc through a boat trip and cycle ride.

8.00 am: To start the Hang Mua and Tam Coc day tour from Hanoi, we begin at your hotel in the Old Quarter. Our guide will collect you here and take you southwards to beautiful Ninh Binh Province.

10:30 am: We will arrive first at the foothills of Hang Mua Peak, also known by the name of ‘Lying Dragon Mountain’. Begin your trek to the top, climbing the evocative stone staircase and looking out for verdant views of Ninh Binh on the way to the peak. Once we reach the top, we will spend a while taking pictures and admiring the stunning view, where we see incredible beauty splashed across mountains, rice paddies and the winding river carving out the two halves.

12:00 pm: We make our way to a local restaurant after this, where we will be treated to lunch comprising Ninh Binh and north Vietnamese specialties.

1:00 pm: The second part of the Hang Mua and Tam Coc day tour of Ninh Binh begins after lunch with a trip to the center of Tam Coc. Here, we find the head of the Ngo Dong River, where locals will be waiting with sampan boats. We jump into one and head out onto the water, winding our way down the river and between the karstic cliffs and rice paddies on either side. We pass underneath caves carved naturally into the mountains and keep an eye out for goats who cling to the forested hillsides.

3:00 pm: Once we have completed the river loop, we arrive back at the center of Tam Coc, where we climb onto bicycles and explore the rest of the village via its quaint cycling paths. Our route leads us in between vast mountains and lush green or golden rice paddies carpeting the floor, with examples of an attractive rural farming life speckled amidst the scenes.

4:00 pm: We return to Tam Coc’s center again, this time in order to board the bus back to Hanoi. A gorgeous sunset will accompany us en route as we skirt the rice paddies fanning out from the side of the highway.
