Two of the most beautiful destinations in Asia present their combined beauty on the following Vietnam and Cambodia tours. Comprising the southern and eastern sides of the Indochina peninsula, Vietnam and Cambodia have had an incredibly long and eventful history as neighbors, one that has given rise to two distinct cultures and two lands of unbridled natural beauty.
These tours of Vietnam and Cambodia are run by Vietnam Escape Tours, a highly respected and experienced tour agency operating from Hanoi. You can be assured of quality across all of our tours, with professional guides and drivers, excellent organization and your safety as a top priority during your time with us.
Between the two great countries of Vietnam and Cambodia, Vietnam Escape Tours visits a huge amount of attractive destinations. Some of Asia’s best beaches, jungles, mountain ranges and architectural wonders lie strewn across the two countries, ripe for exploration and relaxation.
The capital of Vietnam is in a league of its own in terms of culture and history. Hanoi is the starting point of many of our Vietnam and Cambodia tours and an excellent introduction to the country it heads. Across many temples, cultural houses and lakes, Hanoi revels in its ancient past, which has done more than any other influence to shape the layout and philosophy of the city. Many temples still stand, some from as far back as the 5th century, alongside French colonial buildings and modern high-street shops, which helps to create the all-encompassing feel of Hanoi and culminate in such an eccentric and appealing destination.
Phnom Penh has been through much more turbulence than Hanoi and has thus emerged as a very different place to its equivalent capital. The focus of Phnom Penh is essentially split in two, with one eye to its ancient history and one eye on its recent past. Chuong Ek and Tuol Sleng Prison are where the Khmer Rouge implemented their brutal regime in the latter half of the 20th century, but a cultural vibrancy is still very much on display at the Royal Palace and Wat Phnom, where Phnom Penh’s royal and religious assets show their splendor.
In a country full of UNESCO World Heritage sites, one stands head and shoulders above the rest. Vietnam’s Halong Bay is a different world of breath-taking elegance, found across an emerald seascape where karst mountains have sprouted from the ocean’s bed. The millions of years that Halong Bay has been in existence has created a wealth of attractive features such as beaches, caves and tree-clad karsts, all of which complete a heavenly seen for tourists and locals. The cruises that head through here are one of the unmissable experiences of a Vietnam and Cambodia tour with Vietnam Escape Tours.
The capital of the old empire of the Khmer sits amid the lush jungle, just north of Siem Reap. Here is where Khmer kings ruled their vast kingdom between the 9th and the 15th century, with many Buddhist temples (originally Hindu) also dotted around the staggering 1000km2 complex. The site is cast in gorgeous sandstone, incorporating incredible architecture and statues gradually in the midst of reclamation by the jungle. It all adds up to a beautifully evocative site and a real highlight of our Vietnam and Cambodia tours.
Over the four centuries after the collapse of the Khmer empire, Hoi An became a different type of powerhouse in Southeast Asia. The port town on the eastern coast of Vietnam brought immense wealth to the country, the city and the individual merchants who worked here, importing and exporting silk, sandalwood and spices. Hoi An took various architectural directions over this time, originating in Vietnamese tradition but with many influences of Japanese, Chinese and French as well. Outside of the city, beautiful rural areas contain scenes of idyllic Vietnamese life and the ruins of a lost civilization at My Son Sanctuary.
France’s influence as colonists of Indochina stretched through most of Vietnam and Cambodia, but some of the best-preserved examples of the attractive architecture left behind is in Battambang. This is Cambodia’s second city and an art gallery of spectacularly bright colors splashed across faded walls, doors and shutters. Visitors on our Vietnam and Cambodia tours can explore the city by foot and bicycle, both of which help to reveal the beauty of Battambang, along with its outlying temples and scenery, in a gradual manner.
Vietnam’s prime island of paradise is actually located closer to Cambodia than it is to mainland Vietnam. Phu Quoc is a pendant-shaped spit of perfection in the Gulf of Thailand, offering white-sand beaches, sprawling jungle and an attached archipelago with an even more idyllic atmosphere. The top of the island is reserved for the Phu Quoc National Park, involving 315km2 of woodland, coral reef and mountaintops. A safari also makes a home here, flanked by a multitude of beaches on all sides of the island.
Cambodia’s premier beach destination lies on its southern coast, not far from the Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc. Sihanoukville stretches out into the Gulf of Thailand and lines its land border with white sand beaches, taking the form of Ochheuteal, Otres, Sokha and Independence beaches. The paradise extends to two of Cambodia’s islands, Koh Rong and Koh Rong Sanloem, just a short ferry ride away from Sihanoukville.

We visit craft shops after this to see the versatile uses of coconut, before heading to Can Tho, the capital of the Mekong Delta, for the night.
Today is an early start as we set out on sampan boats into Cai Be floating market, where locals sell produce, souvenirs and perform services such as watch and shoe fixing from the comfort of their sampan boats. We will have a look around here, including the eponymous and highly ornate Sam Mountain Temple, before settling down in Chau Doc for the night.
