Despite the fact that Ninh Binh is amongst the smallest provinces in Vietnam, the outstanding nature, religion and architecture that projects give it a very strong presence throughout the country. On the Trang An – Bai Dinh full-day tour from Hanoi, we visit two of the province’s sites that display the beauty of Ninh Binh in all of its long-held majesty.
With a professional guide and driver, your private transportation, boat ride and guided tour open up the world of Ninh Binh for you. At Trang An, we glide across smooth water, soaking up the serenity and snapping photos of some typically beautiful Vietnamese scenery. After lunch, our focus turns to the magnificent Bai Dinh Pagoda, where we can explore hundreds of hectares of architectural beauty with a potent religious flavor.
All transport and mid-tour meals are accounted for on this day tour of Trang An and Bai Dinh, delivered by a company with extensive experience in Ninh Binh.
Activities: Take the transfer from Hanoi to Trang An for a boat cruise, before lunch and a tour of Bai Dinh Pagoda, followed by the drive back to Hanoi.
8:00 – 8:30: The Trang An – Bai Dinh full-day tour starts from Hanoi. Our guide and driver will take you from your hotel here to luxuriant Ninh Binh province, absorbing the freshness of the nature in the Red River Delta along the way.
10:30: We arrive in the north of the province in beautiful Trang An Caves, located in the cradle of surrounding limestone mountains. At the head of the river here we find a row of sampan boats offering passage across the calm waters, so we will duly board one and meet our rower, an experienced local with a vast knowledge of the region. From this point, we begin our 2 – 3 hour cruise, relaxing into the serenity of the world around us and taking pictures of its powerful, green nature. We can even find instances of ancient architecture rising directly out of the riverbed, adding another aspect of picture-perfect scenery in this slow-moving paradise.
1:00: We disembark at the harbor and thank our local rower before moving on to have lunch at a local restaurant. This will be a meal of local Ninh Binh and greater north Vietnamese flavors, providing us with energy for our afternoon of discovery at Bai Dinh Pagoda.
2:00: After a quick drive in the car, we find ourselves at Bai Dinh Pagoda, Vietnam’s largest Buddhist complex covering an incredible 540 hectares. The temples, pagodas and statues that we find within its hillside walls offer us many avenues for exploration, giving us the chance to weave throughout the complex and finding aspects that intrigue us. Along the way, the guide will explain certain facets of the interesting architecture around Bai Dinh and will talk of its importance in Southeast Asian Buddhism today.
(For those who do not wish to walk around Bai Dinh Pagoda, there is the option of an electric car service, which is available).
4:00 – 4:30: After this, we begin our drive back to Hanoi in the car, taking in more splendid views of Ninh Binh and the Red River Delta as the sun descends.
The Trang An – Bai Dinh full-day tour from Hanoi ends where we started – at your central hotel in the capital. We would like to thank you for joining us and we wish you well for your onward Vietnam travels!
