In the southern section of Halong Bay lies an area of intense natural beauty, only frequented by a handful of cruise ships. Most are drawn to the intricate limestone maze of Halong Bay’s main body, but in the southern Lan Ha Bay, the same beauty shines for far fewer tourists. Escape Sails, our Halong Bay Luxury Cruise, forges the largely unknown path through this enchanting region, which has long retained an aura of peace through forested mountains, uncombed beaches, sprawling jungle and secretive caves. Activities:
7:30 – 08.00: Get picked up by the driver at your hotel lobby before transferring to Got Harbour in the coastal city of Hai Phong. We will be passing through the ancient Red River Delta en route, which is a fertile region bursting with beautifully evocative sights.
10:00: Once we have arrived at Got Harbour, we will find the Escape Sails waiting for us in the open water. A quick check-in at the welcome lounge will come before our transfer to our luxury day cruise in Halong Bay.
11:00: We kick off proceedings with a welcome drink and fabulous lunch, served in the sparkling dining room in full view of the bay. Our cruising will take us into the gallery of limestone mountains ahead of us, starting with the first of many – a karst rock bearing a 100-year-old French colonial lighthouse.
12:30: Through the gorgeous seascape we sail, around incredible tree-topped karsts observable from one of the two sundecks of the cruise. We drop anchor first at Tra Bau, an open expanse of water very much off the tourist radar. Our time here is spent swimming and kayaking, with constant views of the forested spires jutting out of tranquil waters.
14:30: Re-board your luxury cruise in Halong Bay and relax as we head over to the mysterious Dark & Bright Caves. We will explore the Bright Cave via sampan boat, gliding under its rippled limestone ceiling before emerging into a secret lagoon surrounded by forested beauty clinging to the walls of streaked cliffs.
15:30: We return to the Escape Sails for the final time, spending the rest of the afternoon enjoying the tranquil life and castaway atmosphere on board. Our chefs will provide us with some entertainment and education in the forms of a fruit-carving demonstration and cooking class, which is followed by afternoon tea and delicious snacks, served in Western style.
17:30 – 17:45: An incredible sunset will usher us back to Got Harbour, where we will disembark under a darkening sky streaked with red clouds. From here, we board the bus back to Hanoi, passing through the Red River Delta as its plateaus of rice paddies sparkle in the moonlight.
19:45 – 20:00: Once we reach Hanoi, we will drop you off outside your hotel and wave a fond goodbye. Your time with Escape Sails on this Lan Ha Bay and Halong Bay day trip will come to an end.
