The northeastern corner of Vietnam encapsulates the beauty of the wider country across a wild seascape of limestone mountains. This is Lan Ha Bay, the southern route of Halong Bay, which offers itself as a less-touristic route through an identical paradise. Here, tall karstic rocks watch over a shimmering emerald ocean, which reflects an unbridled beauty found across forested islands, white-sand beaches, mysterious caves and vibrant fishing villages.
This luxury Lan Ha Bay day cruise, operated by Vietnam Escape Tours, takes you to this picture of heaven on our highly traditional 5-star boat. The Escape Sails is composed of two gorgeous sundecks, an elegant restaurant and a comfortable lounge, providing the perfect accompaniment to the sweeping splendour on display outside.

Activities:
7:15 – 7:45 am: We begin the first part of your luxury Lan Ha Bay day cruise at your hotel, where the driver will arrive to collect you and begin your journey to Hai Phong city on Vietnam’s northeastern coast. The Red River Delta passes us by as we take the short 2-hour transfer, with beautiful views of farmers hard at work in the rice paddies.
10:00 am: We meet our ship, the Escape Sails, as it stands majestically still in the water. A tender boat will take us out to the luxury cruise after a short wait in the check-in lounge.
11:00 am: Explore the Escape Sails at your leisure and find luxury flooding every corner. A welcome drink and a quick itinerary briefing will be presented before a delicious multi-choice lunch, which caters to many different diets.
11:30 am: Spend the first few hours of your cruising on one of the two sundecks, breathing in the serene aura of Lan Ha Bay while watching its towering karst mountains pass us by. We enter the bay proper when we pass Da Chong Islet, a spit of limestone rock housing a beautiful colonial French lighthouse.
12:30 pm: Our first activity will be a wonderful kayaking and swimming excursion around the silent area of Tra Bau, to where our luxury Lan Ha Bay day cruise has private access. Tra Bau is the verdant back garden of Mr. Khai and his family, with whom we have an exclusive partnership and admission to the peaceful and natural beauty on offer.
2:30 pm: Continuing our cruising after this, we soon reach the Dark & Bright Caves, which present their beauty across twin wet cave systems. We take a local sampan boat through the Bright Cave, absorbing the limestone grandeur falling in the form of glistening stalactites. The hidden lake at the end of the cave opens up onto wide vistas of streaked cliff walls adorned with jungle. Our local rower will take us to its most luxuriant corners, giving us a chance to take in the tropical views and look out for golden-haired langurs, one of the endemic species of Lan Ha Bay.
3:30 pm: We finish the rest of our luxurious Lan Ha Bay day trip on the Escape Sails, watching more natural splendour spread to the horizon and enjoying the convenience and quality stock of our onboard bar. In the late afternoon, our chefs will emerge from the kitchen to put on a fruit-carving display as well as lead an engaging Vietnamese cooking class. Following this is our afternoon tea service, where passengers can enjoy tea and snacks on our return to the harbour.
5:30 – 5:45 pm: At sunset, we reach Got Harbour and savour the last of Lan Ha Bay’s splendour below its darkening sky and evocative red clouds. The bus will be waiting here to take us back to Hanoi along the express highway.
7:45 – 8:00 pm: Step out of our highly comfortable shuttle bus outside your hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. This will signal the end of Lan Ha Bay Cruise, for which we would like to thank you for attending. We wish you well for the rest of your time in Vietnam!
