The well-known saying of ‘happiness is only real when shared’ rings loud and true on these Vietnam group tours, offered by Vietnam Escape Tours. The daytrip and package tours listed below are open to anyone and everyone with a love of exploration and a passion to discover Vietnam together, all alongside other likeminded travellers and a professional guide with years of experience. The extensive beauty of our country opens up to guests on our Vietnam package tours, all of whom can find great companionship and the start of long-term friendships at Escape Vietnam.
If it is your first time travelling on a group tour around Vietnam, you might not be entirely sure of what to expect. Vietnam Escape Tours has been arranging such tours for many years now and has grown a bank of experience that helps us shape the perfect tour for both you and your fellow travellers.
The tours listed below vary a lot in length, ranging from daytrips to tours of up to around a week. They can incorporate simple tours around the main cities and their outskirts, or more complex and longer trips around entire regions for up to 7 days. Regardless of your length of stay, all of the admin is arranged for you, meaning that 100% of your time, be it one day or seven, will be spent in total relaxation.
The number of people we can accept onto our tours varies from destination to destination, but there is very little chance of us reaching full capacity. The level usually hinges on the size of the bus that we are using to get to our destinations. On daytrips to Ninh Binh and Halong Bay from Hanoi, we use a 36-seater bus, though it is very rare for every seat to be full. On our Vietnam group tours of longer lengths, there are usually fewer guests, meaning that the group will be more intimate and will have more time to get to know each other over the course of a few days.
The following tours are enjoyable by every demographic, but the way they are set up and executed certainly suits different types of travellers in different ways.
Below is a boiled-down version of one of our group tours, which will allow you to see the philosophy behind our services and how they are implemented.
Arrive in Hanoi after your flight, meeting your driver at the airport and heading into the city centre. We will find your hotel in the Old Quarter of Hanoi before you take the rest of the day as free time. This can be spent doing anything you want, but we strongly recommend that you take a walk around the Old Quarter and its magnificent Hoan Kiem Lake.
Begin the day at your hotel with an included breakfast. The driver and guide will arrive shortly afterwards to start the first full day of your Vietnam group tour at the Ho Chi Minh Complex, where we can see much of the recent wartime history of the country in an area dedicated to the revered leader. We visit some of the ancient sites of Hanoi after this, at the Temple of Literature, Quanh Thanh Temple and the Tran Quoc Pagoda.
We take a delectable lunch at a local restaurant before moving onto the Vietnamese Women’s Museum, which is a fantastic look into the roles of women both in the American War and Vietnamese society today. A visit to Hoa Lo prison after this will reveal the atrocities that both Vietnamese and American soldiers withstood throughout the French occupation and the American invasion.
The city tour ends for the day in the Old Quarter, where a traditional cyclo ride will show us Hanoi as it was viewed during French colonial times. We explore the district’s 36 guild streets as well as Hoan Kiem Lake and its magnificent Ngoc Son Temple. Our final stop is the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre, where we watch a highly cultural water puppet show with deep links to Vietnam’s rice harvest traditions.
After breakfast, the driver will arrive to your hotel with the fellow passengers on your Vietnam group tour. Our destination from here is Ninh Binh province, where we find the spectacular Hoa Lu and Tam Coc. After about 2 hours, we arrive at Hoa Lu, taking a look around the architecturally and naturally beautiful capital of ancient Vietnam, finding wonderful homages to the two kings that ruled from here in the temples bearing their names.
After this, we have a buffet lunch in Tam Coc before proceeding to the centre of the village. Here, we can get on a local sampan boat and take a ride down the Ngo Dong River, known for its views onto incredible rice paddies, limestone mountains and wet caves. Once back on dry land, we finish the day with a cycle tour to Bich Dong Pagoda, one of the more picturesque pagodas in Ninh Binh, sitting on a beautiful lotus lake in the side of a mountain. We make our way back to Hanoi after this and drop you off at your hotel.
Take breakfast in your hotel and await the arrival of the bus driver, who will transfer you to Halong Bay. Upon arriving at the harbour, guests will be able to check onto the cruise and begin their sailing through beautiful limestone mountains with an accompanying lunch. Following this is an afternoon of activity, starting with kayaking and then proceeding through a trip to an enthralling cave.
Back aboard the cruise, we take in the fabulous sunset from the sundeck. During this time, a cooking demonstration will be put on by the chef and happy hour will start at the bar. We have a romantic evening meal in the dining room before easing ourselves into the night with board games, squid fishing, movie-watching, or whatever you feel like.
Rise early to try out some tai chi on the sundeck of the cruise today. This is followed by breakfast down below in the dining room, as we begin sailing to our first destination of the day. We arrive at a well-endowed island, where we enjoy the white sanded beach, calm sea and views out across the Halong Bay seascape from the top of the wooded hill.
We return to the cruise for the final time and enjoy brunch on board. A Vietnamese tea ceremony will send us off with style and tradition, just before we disembark from the boat and head back to Hanoi. We arrive in Hanoi in the late afternoon, giving you a chance to wrap up your Vietnam group tour with the new friends you have made along the way.
Start the final day with breakfast, taking your last few hours to soak up the majesty of cultural Hanoi. Our driver will arrive to take you to the airport, about 3 hours before your flight is due to leave.
