The far south of Vietnam is where visitors to the country find its most tropical landscapes. The beautiful waterways that split off from the Mekong River, and the gorgeous greenery that sprouts from its banks are the focus of this Mekong Delta Day Tour, spent entirely around the coconut trees of its most verdant province, Ben Tre.
Throughout this day trip from Ho Chi Minh City, we engage in activities that provide you with many alternative ways to soak up the beauty on offer. Between a river cruise, kayaking excursion, rickshaw ride and a cycle, you will be able to soak up the quiet allure of Ben Tre from all of its best angles, along with a walk around its craft workshops and an exploration of its highly unique fruit orchards.
This Mekong Delta day trip comes with the professionalism of our friendly guide and diligent driver, who will open up the sleepy world of Ben Tre with excellent information and safe passage.
Activities: cHead to Ben Tre Province in the Mekong Delta for a boat ride, kayaking excursion and walk around the local workshops, stopping for lunch on the way and finishing with a cycling tour of fruit orchards before heading back to Ho Chi Minh City.
At your hotel in the morning, the driver and guide will collect you and begin your Mekong Delta day tour with the drive to Ben Tre province on the ancient region’s eastern coast.
Ben Tre is known for its luxuriant backwaters, which you will see immediately once we arrive and embark on a local boat at Ham Luong Harbour. Enjoy the freshness of the air and the sights of exotic coconut trees towering over the quiet waters on which we cruise, bordered by wild jungle on the banks, all of which promote an atmosphere of incredible calm.
We spend a good amount of time on the water before embarking onto land, where we can take a walk around some of the local workshops that keep alive the tradition of craft-making in Ben Tre. Many of these involve the use of the region’s ever-present coconut, which features in coconut candy and household items made from husks, as well as its fibers being used to make thatched roofs and even art.
We take a short drive in a Xe Loi, a type of motorized rickshaw popular throughout the province. Following this, our Mekong Delta day tour heads back to the canals of Ben Tre, where we can board kayaks and glide serenely through waterways flanked by nipa palm and intensely green vegetation.
Lunch is served after we stop on land once again, this time at the house of a local host, who will provide us with a full meal along with Ben Tre specialty snacks. We make our way around the village afterward by bicycle, finding an exotic fruit orchard full of tropical trees, with plenty bearing sweet fruits completely foreign to many visitors.
The final activity of our day trip around the Mekong Delta is back on its waterways, which return us via boat to Ham Luong Harbour in Ben Tre’s main town. From here, we head back to Ho Chi Minh City on the highway, arriving in the late afternoon.
Wave goodbye to the guide and driver at your hotel, which is where your Mekong Delta day trip draws to a close. Our sincere thanks to you for joining us on this tour – we hope to see you again!
