  Mar 7, 2023

  By Thao Le

Sapa is a top tourist attraction in Northern Vietnam, located 1500 meters above sea level. This geographical feature gives Sapa a pleasant temperature throughout the year for unwinding and experiencing the rustic hillside villages. Sapa is also home to many minority tribes, making it the most culturally diverse region in the country. To find out the best places to visit in Sapa, we will suggest some of the most worth-visiting places for vacation in Vietnam.

Here are the top 7 places that you should not miss:

Muong Hoa Valley

Muong Hoa is an ideal place for tourists who are looking for adventure through villages to admire the majestic mountains and idyllic, never-ending rice terraces. Considered one of the biggest rice-planting valleys in Sapa, Muong Hoa will display its most charming beauty when rice is in the harvesting season from September to October. The whole valley lies curving along the hillsides to form a perfectly tilted pan, dyed a lush golden color in the middle of nature. This scene could arouse the curiosity of any tourists when witnessing this heaven on earth, which is hard to find elsewhere. To get the best experience here, you can choose to take a two-way ticket on the Muong Hoa mountain train to view from above or cycle through the mountain road. The most common and interesting activity could be trekking because you can have close exposure to the lives of ethnic people here.

Fansipan summit

Fansipan, located at 3,143m above sea level, is the highest mountain in the Indochinese Peninsula; therefore, it’s usually called the "roof of Indochina. You can choose to go to the summit by cable car. With views of the Muong Hoa Valley and the spectacular peaks of the Hoang Lien Son Range, it cuts through the clouds. For adventure lovers, you could trek from the foot of the mountain to its peak in several days. But actually, trekking is very dangerous because of the difficulties on the road to the summit. As a result, we recommend that you take a cable car to see the best view safely from above. When you set foot at the highest point, you’re rewarded with the mighty nature, the blue sky, and floated clouds. Do not forget to shoot some photos to capture this once-in-a-lifetime moment. Therefore, Fansipan Mountain is one of the best places to visit in Sapa.

Cat Cat village

Cat Cat village lies at the bottom of the Muong Hoa Valley, where H’mong people live. This village was formed in the 19th century after various ethnic H’Mong and Dzao families came together to settle here. They started cultivating rice and corn in the region, as well as weaving fabric and creating handicrafts. It could be said that the cat field terrace is stunning when trekking through this village. The fields change colors with each season: lush green from April to the end of May and yellow in September. You can have experience t try costumes of The H’Mong people with colorful clothes and dresses, which are made craftly by hand of the local people. Traditional dance attracts tourists because of its uniqueness, and moreover, they can immerse themselves in the gentle dances and learn about the customs and religious beliefs of the H’Mong Tribe. Besies, the waterfall in Cat Cat is also worth visiting while standing among the romantic natural scenery and hearing water pouring sounds.

Stone church – The most famous Attraction in Sapa

The French erected a stone church in the center of Sapa town in the early 20th century. Nowadays, Sapa Stone Church serves as a primary location for many cultural and traditional activities of the local ethnic groups in addition to being a popular religious attraction for both locals and visitors. Every Saturday, local boys and girls congregate in this location for a unique market dubbed "love market" to meet romantic partners. The sounds of ethnic instruments like the flute, trumpet, lip lute, and pan flute mixed with the highlighted dances of the ethnic girls and guys will provide a memorable experience in the peaceful highland evening.

Ham Rong Mountain

Ham Rong is one of the most well-known tourist spots and is situated in the heart of Sapa. They named it Ham Rong Mountain, or Dragon Jaw Mountain in English, because its top resembles the head of a dragon. Ham Rong is proud of its distinctive traits that are unmatched by any other mountain. The mountain, which is directly behind the Sapa Cathedral, is shaped like a dragon with its head raised toward the sky. Because of this unique form, it is known by the name Ham Rong (Dragon Head).

Here, the hilly terrain below and the panoramic view of Sapa can be seen with the clouds drifting overhead. It gives you the impression that heaven and earth are interfering with one another at an altitude of 1800 meters, where you can even reach out and touch the soft clouds.

As numerous flowers are grown here, going here is a fantastic idea if you love flowers. You will pass past the Orchid and Peach gardens as you ascend this mountain, both of which are breathtakingly stunning in bloom.

Tram Ton Pass

Tram Ton Pass is one of the best places to see the view in Sapa because it is the highest mountain pass in Vietnam, standing at 1900 meters. This is also called Heaven’s Gate since the view is similar to a gate to heaven. You can hike a motorcycle, which costs about $4 per day, to get the best view.Riding along the way, you can absorb a great view of Fansipan on the other side of the valley with its lush forest. The best time for taking photos is when the sky is clear, at sunset or dawn. On the way, you will pass through Silver Falls and Love Waterfall, where you can take a rest and enjoy the coolness of pure water coming from the heart of the mountains.

Silver Waterfall

Visitors will find the Thac Bac Waterfall to be quite untamed and wild due to its majestic look, gorgeous white water flow, and surrounding pristine vegetation. It also lies in the center of a large highway. We will suddenly feel so small in comparison to nature while we are standing by the waterfall, surrounded by endless rows of trees, and under a clear blue sky. Coming to Thac Bac Waterfall will make you feel incredibly rejuvenated, relaxed, and healthy if you are starting to feel suffocated and overwhelmed from living in a hectic and congested metropolis. You'll be physically and psychologically healed by the clear air and the peaceful, relaxing energy of nature.
