Coral reef. Like Halong Bay, this place is made up of huge limestone mountains jutting out of the water and is an area protected by the local government on both land and sea.

History of formation

According to legend, Halong Bay is the home and final resting place of a ferocious mother dragon sent to help the Vietnamese defend their country from foreign invaders. She spits out various gems and flints, which become karsts. Bai Tu Long Bay is said to be the place where her descendants came down and stayed. This place when translated into English also means "Bow and pay respects to the children of dragons."

Things not to miss

Explore Thien Canh Son Cave

Unlike the best caves to visit in Halong Bay: Dau Go Cave, Sung Sot Cave, Dark and Light Cave,...In Bai Tu Long, the most famous cave is Thien Canh Son, which can be reached by walking through a path hidden under the dense forest canopy. This place is made up of three main chambers. The structures inside the cave come in many different forms, like blooming lotuses, seals or flowers. In particular, the ceiling of the cave is like a colorful carpet with sparkling stalactites hanging down. Exploring the caves can be an almost spiritual experience as you marvel at the beauty of the stalagmites sparkling in the occasional beams of light.

Visiting Vung Vieng and Cong Dam Fishing Villages

Vung Vieng Floating Village, located 20 km from the mainland in the center of Bai Tu Long Bay, is a great place to learn about the boating and fishing lifestyle of the locals. At this place, you will be immersed in the local culture with fishing boats casting nets and the laughter of workers, giving Vung Vieng an idyllic and traditional character. You can choose to tour the village by rowing a boat with the locals or rent a kayak and experience this calm, peaceful area for yourself.

Isolated from the mainland, Cong Dam fishing village is a destination not many tourists come to. This area is wild, clean and undeveloped. This place is similar in shape to Vung Vieng with many ferries and caves around such as Tra Gioi, Cay Bang and Cat Oan that are worth exploring. Besides, you can learn the culture of a small floating village of about 120 people here.

Enjoy Ban Chan Beach

As for beaches, Bai Tu Long Bay has an abundance of options and may even overtake Halong Bay. Most are indeed beautiful with blue sea and composition with limestone karsts. Ban Chan beach is possibly the most famous and biggest in the bay.

It is known that the topographical conditions on Ban Chan island are very wild when it is located 2.5 hours from the mainland by boat. Seen from above, Ban Chan Beach appears very poetic with mountains, green plants and surrounded by the blue water of the most beautiful bay in Vietnam. The boats turning along the waves in the distance and the sunset shining directly on the water surface further adorn the majestic and poetic beauty of Ban Chan Island.

Weather & Climate

Located in northern Vietnam, Bai Tu Long Bay is affected by 4 seasons in 1 year. If you are looking for steady weather with sunny and cool green beaches, the best time to go would be in early summer (March to May) and late autumn (September to November). At this time, visitors will be comfortable with sunshine and wind. Raining decreases so do not influence your activities in Bai Tu Long.

We hope this article has provided information to help you in planning a trip to visit Bai Tu Long Bay, the undiscovered gem near Halong Bay center. Have a great holiday!
