  By Linda

Sapa, which is known as the most incredible tourism destination in North Vietnam, is a wonderland of breathtaking terrace fields made up of numerous platforms that resemble a ladder reaching the heavens. So, when is the best time for terrace fields in Sapa? Let’s find out with Vietnam Escape Tours in this blog travel.

What’s the weather like in Sapa?

Spring (March - April - May)

Early March through late May is the start of spring. After a cold winter, the months are becoming warmer and better. It's the ideal time for hiking because the scenery appears greener than during other seasons. Enjoy incredible scenery while you are hiking in the mountains with perfect conditions and the sky is blue and clear.

Spring in Sapa also has cherry blossoms. Many white and pink blooming flowers can be seen along the road, as well as throughout full fields and parks.

Summer (June - July - August)

The summer months of June, July and August can be very hot. Temperatures can rise to 25°C during the day. It can also rain almost every day. The rain only lasted an hour for the both of us, but it was so heavy that the dirt roads and trails quickly turned into muddy roads. Hot sun and rain make summer not the best time to visit Sapa. But many Vietnamese people still travel because their children do not go to school.

The landscape in this season, the opposite, is very green with terrace fields growing during the. In addition, the Sapa waterfall is most beautiful in the rainy season and soon after, when a large amount of water flows down the mountain. Therefore, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery even in summer.

Autumn (September - October - November)

September is less rainy, so walking in the forest becomes easier and more comfortable. It is still quite hot during the day, but the summer heat will pass. September and October are also the harvest season. At this time, the terrace fields in Sapa are the most beautiful. The golden rice fields wind like golden ribbons through the mountains, providing breathtaking views. Therefore, autumn is the best time to visit Sapa.

Temperatures drop from late October to November, with milder days and cooler nights. It's also the perfect weather for hiking. Also, the roads are easier and safer for bike tours.

Winter (December - January - February)

November is a good month to visit Sapa, but December and January are the coldest months of the year. Temperatures can drop below freezing during this time and snow is possible. The cold weather and golden terrace fields are gone, and this is not the best time to go to Sapa for a hike. If you plan on hiking, be sure to bring appropriate clothing. Please note that all accommodations in Sapa, especially the more basic homestays, do not have proper heating and can get very cold.

When is the best time for a terrace field in Sapa?

The paddy terraces in Sapa are all year round stunning and attractive in their unique ways. Depending on the season, the terraces' landscape and color are changed. Due to the watering of the new products in terrace fields in the spring, the terraces appear to be a huge mirror reflecting the sun. The entire fields are like green carpets in the summer and gradually change to golden ones in the fall. Winter is approaching, creating a surreal picture as fog covers the hillsides.

But from mid-August to early September, when the terraces fields are painted a silky golden during harvest, is the ideal time to explore Sapa.
