Hoi An Ancient Town

It must be acknowledged that Hoi An Ancient Town is a worthy tourist destination in Hoi An. Back in the 16th and 17th centuries, when the ancient town of Hoi An was a trading port, it was a famous trading place throughout Southeast Asia. Nowadays, this old town gains more reputation thanks to its tranquil atmosphere and the enticing beauty of its restaurants and cafe shops, drawing a significant number of domestic and international tourists. Walking among the ancient streets of Hoi An, it is like walking on a time travel ship, returning to an old Vietnam. Japanese Covered Bridge

The Japanese Covered Bridge in Hoi An (known as the Cau Chua Pagoda) which was built in the 17th century and is a wonderful historical document of the Japanese building style, is one of the most recognizable attractions in Vietnam. A wooden pagoda roof covering the bridge has decorative accents that reflect the seamless fusion of Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, and Western architectural styles. Despite undergoing numerous restorations over the years, the Japanese Covered Bridge is in good condition and has come to represent Hoi An. A small temple honoring Tran Vo Bac De, the Taoist God of weather who guards believers from earthquakes and floods, is located inside the bridge. Up to present, the Japanese Covered Bridge Hoi An is regarded as one of the most famous tourist attractions in Hoi An as well as a beautiful reminder of the town’s long history which has connected the past, the present and the future over centuries.

The Japanese Covered Bridge

Phung Hung Old House

Beside the Japanese Covered Bridge, Phung Hung Ancient House is another famous architectural building in Hoi An, considered a cultural heritage of the town.  The more than 200 year-old typical commercial house was constructed in 1780, during the height of Hoi An urban prosperity. It processes a distinctive structure with high wooden logs and wide hallways, reflecting the evolution and fusion of Asian architectural styles in Hoi An over the years.The house is a typical commercial house representative of Vietnam’s urban areas in the 18th century. This home's original owner was a Vietnamese businessman. The house used to be a shop selling forest products like cinnamon, pepper, salt, silk, chinaware and glassware. The eighth descendant to still call this old home and maintain it is the current owner. One of Hoi An's most stunning architectural structures is this one.

Phung Hung Ancient House

Tan Ky Old House

Tan Ky old house is one of the rarest houses that is recognized as a world heritage site by UNESCO, was built in 1741 by a Vietnamese family, and has been preserved through 7 generations. Tan Ky old house is well known for its appealing ancient beauty. Visiting this old house will take you back to the past decades with many memorable things about old Hoi An. Tan Ky old house

Bay Mau Coconut Forest

Bay Mau coconut forest is located in Cam Thanh commune, 5 km from Hoi An ancient town. This is a great spot to get wonderful coracle rowing experience and often attracts many visitors. It is a green tourist area, the "lungs" of Hoi An and surrounding areas. Many marine animals such as shrimps, crabs and krill live here. To explore the wetland ecosystem and understand more about the daily life of the locals, there is nothing more exciting than going with local fishermen on the river. Besides, you can participate in some exciting activities like basket boating, visiting coconut forest, tasting the fresh sea-foods on the boat. Thanh Ha Pottery Village

Thanh Ha pottery village is only three kilometers to the west of Hoi An Ancient Town, and it is reachable by bicycle, motorcycle, or boat along the Thu Bon river. In the 16th century, people from Thanh Hoa province came here to start a new life and practice their traditional craft of pottery, which is how this ancient village came to be. Thanh Ha pottery village has maintained its original beauty and values for more than 400 years. Although there are fewer villagers who still work in the traditional occupation today, some craftspeople continue to value and preserve the old pottery-making methods while also reviving the pottery village as a Hoi An tourist destination. Discover Thanh Ha village visitors are not only immersed in a rustic, peaceful village, but also have a chance to witness the process of making pottery, admire traditional terracotta products as well as try to make your own product with your hands. It is advised to visit the village on weekdays and in the morning to avoid the heat and crowds of tour groups.

Kim Bong Carpentry Village

Kim Bong is known as the most reputable carpentry village in Cam Kim commune, Hoi An. Most of the ancient architecture of Hoi An’s heyday was built by the talented carpenters of Kim Bong Village. Originating from the North and also acquired some quintessence of Champa Kingdom, Chinese, Japanese sculptural traditions and of course, skillful hands of Vietnamese craftsmen, Kim Bong’s products have become more and more ingenious. Kim Bong Village has nourished for many years and established 3 groups of artisans: ancient architectural construction, shipbuilding and civil wooden furniture. Coming Kim Bong Carpentry Village - one of tourist attractions in Hoi An, visitors will have chance see the artisans working with their skillful hands on the crafts, admire special works such as the clove carved 1,000 dragons made of bamboos, the image of Japanese Covered Bridge and buy some specialties as souvenirs.
