In general, it is safe to walk in the evening in Vietnam and in Hanoi or other cities comparing to many cities in the world for tourists. Serious crimes against tourists are extremely rare in fact. However, it is better to avoid the those crimes and it is good to be safe while travelling.

A: Thank you so much! i have been travelling in Vietnam for 5 days and in Hanoi for 2 days and i feel it is safe to walk in Hanoi in the evening. I am travelling with a group of friends so we can walk at night and and feel safe. We went to a bar yesterday and came back to our hotel at 12.30 and there were no matter. There were a lot of businesses stayed open and there were street vendors, taxi so we did not feel unsafe. We could walk noramally becuase our hotel is in Old Quarter. i have travelled to some country and i think Hanoi is one of the safest city. Of course, if you are travelling alone and when you are girl and we should go back to hotel earlier.

A: Comparing to other cities i have been in Vietnam and other countries and even in my country i think Hanoi is safe to walk in the evening. I searched a lot before visiting Vietnam on Tripadvisor and other forums and all said that Hanoi is quite safe for travelers so i decided to visit Vietnam as i am travelling alone this time. i am a girl and i want to travel to safe country like Vietnam and like Hanoi City. This time i visit Hanoi, NInh Binh, Halong Bay and Sapa. i joined in the walking street and night market in Hanoi and i saw police in a lot of coners to make sure people and travelers safe. All Vietnamese are very happy and supportive. At the airport, someone i met help me to call my driver becuase i could not call my driver from my phone.
