Overview

One of the most well-known tourist locations in the north of Vietnam is the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, which is situated in Ninh Binh Province. The Vietnamese government views Trang An Ninh Binh as a particularly significant national landmark, and UNESCO has designated it as a world heritage site since 2014. Let’s discover this beautiful place with Vietnam Escape Tours.

What to see in Trang An Ninh Binh

Natural Karst Tower

The Trang An Eco-tourism complex is home to one of the world's most picturesque and beautiful karst landscapes. There are a variety of limestone mountains with hat-like formations that might be combined with Halong Bay to provide a stunning scene. Trang An served as the country's imperial locale during the Dinh Dynasty rule in the past. It is thought that some of the forms in the limestone here symbolize the power and influence of King Dinh Bo Linh over his people. This is one of the reasons he chose to relocate the Vietnamese capital to Hoa Lu (Trang An).

The complex occasionally experiences the collapse of numerous karst towers along with movements of the Earth's crust, creating gorgeous grottos that make it easier for visitors to view from riverboats.

Trang An cave

More than 1,000 hectares of rocky mountains and caverns make up this complex, together with 48 trans-water caves with a combined length of nearly 20 km and 31 water valleys. Every cave has its own unique name. Here are the top 4 magical caves in Trang An that you must visit:

Dia Linh Cave: This beautiful stalactite and stalagmite structure may be found in the center of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex. The cave is renowned for having fresh, cool air, which makes it a wonderful retreat from the heat outdoors.

Nau Ruou Cave: Nau Ruou Cave is renowned for its distinctive history of regional rice wine fermenting. This cave is home to a deep well with fresh and clean water that is famed for brewing delectable rice wine.

Ba Giot Cave is a well-liked stopping point for travelers looking for a cool respite due to its three naturally occurring waterfalls. The tale connected to the cave adds to its ethereal atmosphere.

These two caverns, Bright Cave and Dark Cave, are close to one another and frequently visited together. Dark Cave is completely dark, requiring visitors to use headlamps to explore its depths, while Bright Cave is known for its natural lighting, which illuminates the whole cave. Visitors should expect to have distinct and opposite experiences in both caverns.

Tropical Forests and Rivers

Golden paddle fields and lush woods encircle the karst towers in Trang An. The crossing of rivers gives Trang An its distinctive look and provides pathways for travelers. The Chanh River borders this system's east, the Hoang Long River its north, the Ben Dang River its west, and the He River its south.

In Trang An, there are numerous historic pagodas and temples that are solemnly constructed within lush green forests. In the first lunar month, a large number of Vietnamese people will come here to pray for a prosperous and joyful year.

The most notable pagoda among them all is Bai Dinh, which has a distinctive architectural style and a lengthy history. It is currently the largest pagoda in Vietnam and has many records of Southeast Asia.

Tribal Village in Kong

Tourists were permitted access to the Kong filming location in 2017. This is one of the most amazing adventures in Trang An, Ninh Binh. Around a stone driveway will be roughly 40 bamboo dwellings. Locals would dress up and apply makeup to look like the aboriginals in the movie while sitting in huts to draw tourists. Sometimes, just to surprise the tourists, they may suddenly leave the huts.

How to get to

Trang An, located in the Hoa Lu and Gia Vien districts of Ninh Binh, covers a total area of more than 2,168 hectares in 8 communes. Due to the presence of national highways 1A, 10, 12A, and 12B as well as a portion of the north-south railway, the route to Trang An (Ninh Binh) is extremely straightforward. As a result, getting around Ninh Binh is simple. Travelers can reach the city via a variety of modes, including buses, motorcycles, trains, and private vehicles.

By motorbike

Renting a motorcycle and driving it yourself will fit you best if you're a traveler on a budget who wants an adventurous experience on the route to Ninh Binh.

By private car

You can travel in a private car, which is the most convenient and comfortable option. It will remove your concerns about having to drive yourself, using road maps, and your privacy.

By bus

Even though it is less expensive than private vehicles and safer than riding a motorbike alone, taking the bus nevertheless has some drawbacks. Because your timetable will depend on the bus and you will need to rent a taxi to get to every location in Ninh Binh, the cost will increase.

By train

Similar to taking the bus, taking the train is more expensive and takes longer because you have to adhere to the timetable and take a taxi to get from the railway station to your final destination. The train runs every day and travels from Hanoi to Ninh Binh or vice versa in around 2-3 hours.

Best time to visit

Throughout the entire year, people visit Trang An Complex. The optimal time for you to visit Trang An is from January to March of the lunar calendar. At this time of year, it is comfortable to relax on a boat and visit attractive locations since the weather is not too cold, the sky is clear, and there is not much rain. There are several festivities taking place around this time, which can be paired with festival visits or pagoda visits for peace prayers.

If you visit Trang An between July and September, this is the time to admire ripe rice fields. For those who enjoy using golden rice fields in their dishes, now is the greatest moment. Although it is a little warm in June, the sky is clear and there isn't much rain. Additionally, this is the time of year when the lotus flowers provide excellent sightseeing. You should stay away from visiting Trang An in November and December because of the unfavorable weather and heavy rains throughout these months.

Tips for the trip

- Please remember to pack hats and umbrellas if you intend to take a Trang An Tour from Hanoi in the middle of the day to protect yourself from the sun and rain.

- We strongly advise that you use a life jacket when boating. The Trang An boat tour ticket includes it.

- When you're hiking, remember to wear comfortable, sweat-wicking shoes and clothing.
