Introduction of Tra Que Village

3 kilometers from the North of the center of Hoi An city is situated by Tra Que Vegetable Village in Cam Ha Commune. This over-40-hectare expanse of land has been used by locals for about 3 decades, mostly for growing more than 20 types of leafy vegetables and spices.

Tra Que Vegetable Village is wedged between De Vong River and Tra Que Alga Pond. This favorable location gives the Village rich soil and plenty of water. Hence, the Village is well-known for planting lettuce, houttuynia, flagrant knotweed, and basil. This old-age practice is the highlight when it comes to traveling to this place.

The special thing that gives Tra Que’s vegetables a unique flavor is the farming techniques, including fertilizing the vegetables with seaweed taken from Co Co River. In addition, many cutting-edge technologies are adopted in farming, which have proven effective in productivity increasing. That is the reason why vegetables grown here are downright fresh and clean.

Best time to visit

With a rainy and a dry season, the climate of Tra Que Vegetable Village is very mild. The highest temperature is only around 33 degrees, which is perfect for leisure and entertainment activities. As a result, any time of the year is suitable for visiting the village.

However, February through April or September through December are the greatest months to visit. The vegetables are in full bloom at this time, and the weather is pleasant. In the farms, you can work with the locals to plant, water, or harvest veggies.

How to get there

As mentioned before, this Village is not too far from the centre of Hoi An city (only 3 kilometers), which significantly facilitates traveling to the town. Hence, motorbikes and bicycles are the two most common vehicles chosen by tourists. Bicycles are more popular because there are a number of trails that wind through the village, allowing visitors to take in the sights and sounds of the area. By the way, they can stop by and sample many local products like herbs, vegetables, or fruits along the road.
